It’s that time of year again. Instead of a “best of,” I believe we are all better served by a list of favorites that shaped the way we live our lives. In 2009, there were some pieces of music that really challenged me. I met those challenges, deconstructing every song and reassembling it in my head. Sometimes, I made new arrangements of the songs for my personal enjoyment because I thought they were beautifully written. It’s getting harder every year to find songs within the pop paradigm that actually make you feel something. I believe these works succeeded in 2009. Please let me know if you need any further information on these records. I made a playlist on Grooveshark of my favorite songs from them. Feel free to spend some time with it.
